Terrible Things

Terrible Things is an allegory of the Holocaust. Little Rabbit is told to mind his business as the Terrible things capture creatures with feathers. In the end, just little rabbit is left, he leaves to try and tell other animals before it is too late.
This children's picturebooks would be thought provoking for all ages, even though the content is quite serious. The illustrations by Stephen Gammell only add to the sinister tale, with dark and menacing images created by charcoal. One of the most impactful ideas is the notion of a bystander. "If only we creatures had stuck together, it would have been different."
